Doing Human or Being Human

We get so wrapped up in doing. We find ourselves starting to do something, in the middle of doing something, or finishing up doing something. Think about the common greeting we often give each other ... 'How are you doing?' We seem to measure ourselves and others by what we are doing. Does it really matter what we are actually doing? Is one person's doing better than another's?

Our lives of doing is a subtle, or not so subtle, measure of accomplishment. Through comparison we can look at what others are doing, compare that to what we are doing and either feel better, worse or indifferent about ourselves. Then we move on and continue with doing.

We are so clever that we have developed a language around all this doing: 'I'm just starting to do something ... ', 'Hey, I'm in the middle of doing something', or 'I've just finished doing something'. Which, for all intents and purposes looks very similar to a cycle. The start, the process of, the finishing, the starting again ... a perpetual cycle of doing.

Even when we think we are doing nothing we still, in fact, are doing something. There is a start, a middle and an end to doing nothing. The act of doing nothing is still something. It is just another way of doing and another part of the perpetual cycle.

Our lives become reduced to running on a hamster wheel doing something or nothing stopping only to measure our doing against a goal or someone else. We feel better, worse or indifferent about our self, then begin again running on the doing wheel. What is all this doing getting us?

Some would say our doing is setting goals, building a future, making action plans to achieve something, making a better life. We can measure our doings to see if we are getting what we want.

How many of us are really, truly, doing what we want?

What if you were to discover that you can jump off the doing wheel yet everything will still be accomplished? You can have what you want with far less effort, in fact what we do seems to take on a life of its own and flows easily into place.

What if you were to re-discover this is your natural state of Being Human? Where you are in sync with the ebb and flow of life, freely moving throughout the entire spectrum of experience allowing each experience to take you on the journey of remembering who you are. Exploring your power ... playing in creation.

This life experience transforms into a wonder filled playground with unlimited potential.

Which would you choose, a life of a Doing Human or Being Human?
